I’m always buying things online, therefore, I’m always receiving packages at home. Those damn cardboard boxes are usually a pain to open, so I thought I needed a nice little tool to make my life easier.
I wanted something small enough that I could carry around everywhere; something well built, but light, durable, and maybe something that could have multiple purposes.
The Leatherman Micra multitool felt so perfect. It was exactly what I was looking for. Even though it is a pocket knife, and has other useful little tools, I really liked the fact that the scissors where the main focus of the tool. They are little, but sturdy and really good quality. I really wasn’t aware of how much I needed to carry a pair of scissors everywhere until I started carrying the Micra attached to my keychain.
Yes, it also is a pocket knife, and has a screwdriver and a bottle opener; even tweezers. This thing is very handy, and I think it’s one of the best purchases I made in 2011.
There’s only one issue with my initial logic: I receive packages at home, and when I’m there, I usually don’t have my keys with me (they stay upstairs in my room). Meaning, I usually don’t have my Micra with me at home. It angers me. So, what I might end up doing is buying another one of these little tools to keep it downstairs.

Note: the other option I had was the Leatherman Squirt PS4, which also gets very nice reviews. I don’t own it, so I don’t know how good it is, but I might buy it one day. The main difference is that it has pliers instead of scissors (although it also has a smaller pair of scissors), and it’s a bit smaller than the Micra. The reason I didn’t get it is because at that size, I really don’t see a lot of use for those pliers, but maybe I’m mistaken. If you want to try it, buy the Leatherman Squirt PS4 on amazon.
