A small rant about s60

As I mentioned before, my phone is a Nokia E71 (definitely the best phone I've ever owned). I use it to keep track of the things I need to do. Unfortunately, s60 (symbian, nokia's OS) has a really lame way to manage tasks. While it does support them, they are poorly integrated in the calendar/agenda.

That's why you need to go searching for a better third party app to manage your todo list (and that's another issue, as s60 seems a bit forgotten by developers, as there are trendier systems like Android and the iPhone). There are very few options to choose from when you are looking for something that works, and as I mentioned before, sbsh's Calendar is the best app for me to manage my todo list, but it's far from perfect. It's buggy at times, it looks a bit ugly an outdated. Even the developers have forgotten about this app, as they've been promising a new version for months (or years?). There's a private beta (which I did test), but it seems buggier and uglier, without any real improvements. I don't know if Nokia is doing something to promote and make developing for s60 easier and cooler, but they should...I love nokia, I love my e71 (and soon I'm getting a N97, which I also hope to love), but there should be more apps for them. Yes, Nokia now has the ovi store, but to me, it is a complete failure. Really, search for apps, you won't find any, or at least you won't find any that is really useful...for example, search for Calendar, you just get a couple of results (none of which is a calendar application), even duplicate results.

Nokia needs to do something to increase the number of third party applications. I read somewhere, don't remember where, that s60 is like today's Palm (meaning, it's getting old, really old, outdated, irrelevant). Please Nokia, do something!
