Pen and paper is always useful (moleskines?)

Almost everything I do is digital. I don't own a printer, and keep almost no paper in my office. However, I have to admit that taking notes and jot down thoughts and ideas is not always easy, fast, or effective when you use a digital medium (your laptop, phone, iphone, etc)...the best way for me will always be the most simple method: pen and paper. I always keep a notebook with me to write down anything I need.

Actually, I have to say that I own a lot of notebooks for several purposes. I specially have 3 or 4 sketchbooks in different size that I keep around to draw. I also have 2 main notebooks to write down stuff: one for work, and one for personal projects. As you already know, I'm not an organized person, so these notebooks work as a simple idea storage, which I then try to refine by using software in my phone or laptop.

Anyway, I thought a notebook was simple, I didn't care about the quality, the design, or anything else. As long as it was durable, it was fine with me...but then I discovered the moleskine. There's actually whole communities dedicated to the love of the moleskine notebooks. And I'm not surprised, because they are such a versatile, beautiful notebook. I'm in love with them. Specially the ones I bought: I have 4 modofly notebooks, which are moleskines with custom covers by very talented designer...they are so pretty, that I'm almost ashamed that I use them for writing quick ideas and to-do lists (of course I also use a couple of them to draw my own stuff). They are a bit more expensive than 'normal' moleskines, so maybe next time I'll just buy a plain moleskine, and a cover for it, like the ones you can find at delight...although, on second thought, those covers are a bit expensive as well.

Anyway, the point is: always keep a notebook close. It's one of the best tools to help you organize ideas, be creative, and get things done.
